An initial consultation is just £30 and includes a free trial of disposable lenses. So if you eventually decide against contact lenses, that's all you'll pay.
Contact lenses are medical devices that need to be prescribed and properly fitted by a qualified person. You can only legally buy contact lenses in the UK with a valid written specification issued by a specifically qualified contact lens optician. This will last for a maximum of one year.
At your consultation our optician will check your eyes to make sure it’s okay for you to wear contacts and then determine your specification. A contact lens specification is not the same as an optical prescription and seemingly equivalent numbers can differ between the two. You should have had a full eye test within the last two years and bring your current optical prescription with you. If not, you can book a double appointment and have an eye test and contact lens consultation on the same day.
